Sharing Named CALs between two infrastructures

Hi,

I have two different production QV servers which has two different applications and different set of users on each server. In one server, we are running out of Named CALs and other server have extra CALs. Can some explain, is there a way to use named CALs available in different server for sometime?

Hi Bhaskar,

if you are using two different server, you can desactivate one and activate the other using the same licence, you have to copy all the .meta and .shared document for each document in the two server.

you cant test this and will be work oks

when you have one server active, and you active other server whit the same lince, automatic one is active and other is desactive

tell me if you need something else

Hi Bhaskar,

Assuming that you have two different servers with two different Qlikview licences.

You can lease licence from any server.

Just open your qlikview desktop --> File  menu --> open in server.

Enter url here for your second server where you have Named user cal available.

For details on how to lease license, look at the attached document.

You could run the 2 QV Servers as cluster and thus have a single communal pool of CAL's.  You need to speak top your Account Manager to get your single server licence converted to a cluster licence though.  I do not think you will have to spend any extra monies though.

Hi,

You will need to contact your account manager for help. You can't pull CALs from one server to use on another.

To cluster the QlikView Server would be the best way.

At the task definition you can select that the QlikView application just available on a single cluster note.

You can restrict the reports to a group of users as well by configure you task.

if you are using the publisher, there are this task configuration possibilities as well available.
