Hi all,
I am new to qlikview and have been having loads of fun creating dashboards.
I am collecting data from lots of locations, one in USA but most around the UK.
Because this data is spread out, in the past it has been very slow to get the data for scheduled reports, but as we are now collecting this data into QVD files and constantly updating them, I would like to be able to access this collected data from the QVD on our local network but outside of Qlikview. IE Crystal Reports, Ms Access.
Does a ODBC driver for qvd files exist?
I don't think it was covered on the Designer or Developer courses.
Many thanks in advance.
Well then the help file is incomplete - qvx works as I described...
Hi Pejay,
I am not clear about your requirement, but you can see QVD data outside Qlikview.
Use Notepad ++ to view data from QVD.
Always store in txt file, excel file....
Do you mean QVX format? QVD is a packed binary format, you will see not much..
Hi Ralf,
Yes QVX format,missed to mention.
But storing in Excel file or txt file is more preferred to view all data
I wanted to re-use the data I collect and flattened into QVD files for my dashboards in other applications. Excel, Access, Crystal.
I thought there would of been a ODBC connection or something and was expecting a reply like, download the QVD ODBC driver or something. No such luck.
From above suggestions, I am trying to create QVX files in an attempt to connect to the data and use it outside of Qlikview.
I will use txt/csv files if I can not find any other way.
QVX file format cannot be read by Excel or other programs..
It is a shame that after doing all that work flattening the data for qlikview, that you can not just link to it in the same way as other databases with an ODBC connection.
I suppose I will have to also export CSV files.
It's optimized for use inside of QlikView..
Hi Ralf,
Just found that Crystal Reports has a JDBC connection.
How do I find out more about this JDBC driver.
Many thanks.
