Please help in answering the questions...

Hi Experts,

Can you answers the following questions

1)Does Qlikview have a built-in feature to refresh data in the qvd file?

·         2)When does the data in qvd & qvw get unloaded from the RAM (does it have a set timeout)?

·         3) Do qvd and qvw have to remain on the same location/dir? Can qvd be on diff server and qvw on some other?

·         4)Is ad-hoc reporting possible in Qlikview?(Dragging and dropping options and any web support that end users and create and deploy the reports..

( D   5)  Is there a way to capture the report execution metrics of a Qlikview report?

·         6)Is cube analytics (slice/dice) possible in Qlikview?

·          7)Since Qlikview reports depend wholly on cached data in the qvd file, how does it cater to report requiring real time data?

·       😎  Is it possible to bypass the data read from qvd and directly access the database?

·         9) Is 'single sign on' supported? why do we need two separate log-ins?

·         10)Validate/Illustrate: Higher the compression of qvd better the performance

·         11) Does performance here relate to the n/w overhead involved in transferring the data OR does it mean time consumed in reading data?

·         12) How can higher compression contribute to better performance if both qvd and qvw files reside on the same location?

Hello,

1)Does Qlikview have a built-in feature to refresh data in the qvd file?

Qvd files are data files. qvd are generated by qvw itself. so when u reload/refresh the qvw file, qvd get refreshed.

2)When does the data in qvd & qvw get unloaded from the RAM (does it have a set timeout)?

as soon as you close the qvw file

3) Do qvd and qvw have to remain on the same location/dir? Can qvd be on diff server and qvw on some other?

you can put on different server. but for that you need to define the absolute path for that.

4)Is ad-hoc reporting possible in Qlikview?(Dragging and dropping options and any web support that end users and create and deploy the reports..

yes

5)  Is there a way to capture the report execution metrics of a Qlikview report?

yes, using log file

6)Is cube analytics (slice/dice) possible in Qlikview?

slice/dice is possible. you dont need to build cube for qlikview.

7)Since Qlikview reports depend wholly on cached data in the qvd file, how does it cater to report requiring real time data?

it depends on the refresh frequency. also there is an option call direct table where you can get real time analysis for some extent.

😎  Is it possible to bypass the data read from qvd and directly access the database?

Qvd's are not the mendetory thing for qlikview reports. you can directly access the database.

9) Is 'single sign on' supported? why do we need two separate log-ins?

yes it support the SSO

10)Validate/Illustrate: Higher the compression of qvd better the performance

qvd data compression and report performance are not directly related. question is not clear.

11) Does performance here relate to the n/w overhead involved in transferring the data OR does it mean time consumed in reading data?

it is something like producing the result. data is already in the qvw file

  12) How can higher compression contribute to better performance if both qvd and qvw files reside on the same location?

accessing data from qvd is very faster by qvw file. compression saves your disk space.

for more questions keep posting on community and better have some basic knowledge of tool using reference manual and traning available on qlikview portal.
