I have a table and the values are correct, but ...
I have been asked if I can produce something more like a printt document - this does seem a silly thing to do however ... that is another discussion.
As an example (shown in the spreadsheet)
a3 and a8 are just "fillers" - useful as explanations, but not really part of the table.
How would I go about doing this ... should I make a text box and then have the table "on top" aligined on the textbox?
Jo
The kind of layout should be easily done with a pivot-table where you have one dimension at the left that groups the next dimension. I always create 2 objects in theses cases: one for the dashboard (clean&tidy) and a second one (could be hidden/minimized) that is for the print-out (with additional information/layout/black/white-colorcode).
E.g. you could have a button underneath your chart called e.g. 'Print-friendly chart' that shows/restores the chart and the user can click the excel-export-icon.
Hi Josephine,
yes these are just like labels and usually they are placed in the dashboard using a text object.

Thank Rakesh, but does that mean I cannot just add a "filler" column to a working table?
Jo
I am not really sure I understand what you are trying to do with the data. Could you provide a sample QVW where you statically show how the data should be presented? This would make it easier to suggest how to accomplish the same from your Excel file.
You can add a filler column if you like
This is Qlikview Table Location | East | West
year | 2013 | 2014 | 2013 | 2014
number | 14 | 15 | 16 | 21 |
but this is what I want:
This is the Ql'kView filler column I want | Location | East | West
year | 2013 | 2014 | 2013 | 2014
Figures should range between 10 and 12 | number | 14 | 15 | 16 | 21 |
How do i do this?
Attached is an example that take the "comment" and shows it in the popup when you hover over a bar chart for example. Not sure this is exactly what you are looking for, but maybe it can give you an idea of how to process the incoming data to accomplish your requirements.
Thanks Toni
but the problem is that they want it to be like a printed document so it needs to look like the Excel spreadsheet - with the extra column as "discussion etc"
