I'm all for this idea. I'm looking forward to implementing it into QSEoW.
Since QSE doesn't have a standard application version control feature, we have to manage applications by copying them, renaming them, changing their icons, etc. This is very annoying.
I think Qlik needs to invest more in the application development workstream.
Working in a multi Department organisation, which has multiple levels of sub-department means that I have to instigate Section Access earlier than I really want to (section access is also archaic). If I could give access to only those in each department and sub department to their own Stream then they are not overwhelmed by the number of apps and I don't have to use section access to ensure only those who should see certain apps.
Regardless of whether Qlik has introduced a new Space concept as part of their QSEoCS & QSEoK composition that is addressing most of your needs, it doesn't help me or a lot of use-cases and we won't be moving to anything other than an upgraded version of QSEoW for a long while, if ever, so come on Qlik elevate this to development.
Folders or "bins" should be more used everywhere in the products. Also for items in the master library - for example group product dims in a bin for "Product" or sheets in different "bins" which would be great for the otherwise SO cluttered "Community part".
Fully agreed, instead of "folders", I would suggest app "tags" usable for filterging / grouping apps within streams and Workspace.
This is necessary in big organisations with lots of apps and where "dividing" streams takes to much ressource (security-wise for example). This should be avaible in any QS product
Hi all, getting back to this as the idea has been out there for a while and I can tell you that we did looked into it. Introducing a sub folder structure would require a pretty big change in the repository and as I pointed to the implementation in our SaaS offering already, it is possible to achieve a more structured view by using Tags. And on top of that, we are currently working on more tools / capabilities which will help you (partners, customers and everyone who is using our Cloud product, to better organise your content. This includes a more fine grain way to structure it as well a more fine grain way to secure content.
I'll update the community with an update, when we have more to share in that area.
Totally agree. Folders and sub-folders is needed to better manage the Work Stream in the Hub. We keep backups of all of our versions .. and this has quickly become cluttered with hundreds of versions of each application.
Would be very helpfull for the work and maybe Published tabs in the personal area.
I would say that with streams I would like an search option. because most of the customers don't get to see all the streams. developers who got right do. so it would be helpful to search if a environment contains more then 200+ streams.
