Make it easy to trace where a Master Item is being used throughout an application

Hi,

Currently it's very difficult find which objects are using a particular Master Item. When developing this is important because if you make a change to a master item and have an app with 30+ sheets it could be in multiple places and you have to find the objects to see the effect of the change.

Please make it easy to trace where a Master Item is being used throughout an application.

Thank you for your feedback on ways to improve our product. While this is something we understand would be useful, it's not on the short-term roadmap. Please continue to show your support for this idea.

Thanks,

Patric

This would be a very useful feature not only for master items, but also for any field.

Currently, making changes to the data model e.g. changing the definition of a field, renaming it etc. is always a bit of a gamble as you can never be sure which apps and reports are using it and have to be adjusted after the change.

So I hope this tracing idea finds further support.

Hi @Jorg_ , I believe this has been delivered via Data Lineage: https://www.qlik.com/us/data-management/data-lineage

Please confirm if not.

Hi @Meghann_MacDonald, I believe this is what I have been looking for. But is it only available to to Qlik SaaS customers?

Hi @Jorg_ , Data lineage is a SaaS capability, yes, but if you are able to get a SaaS subscription, you can connect to your client-managed apps and the fields used there.

Master items are not yet available for that but are on the roadmap. This is discussed a bit here: https://community.qlik.com/t5/Product-Innovation/Now-s-the-time-to-take-a-look-at-field-level-lineag...
