Native Regex support for Qlik Sense

Hello,

Well, every other products on the market support regex expression, not Qlik. Qlikview offers a turnaround based on macros.

According to wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regular_expression

A regular expression, regex or regexp[1] (sometimes called a rational expression)[2][3] is a sequence of characters that define a search pattern. Usually such patterns are used by string searching algorithms for "find" or "find and replace" operations on strings, or for input validation. It is a technique developed in theoretical computer science and formal language theory.

Simon

Would be nice to use for URLs / SEO

This would be a hugely useful function! Data validation, especially, would become much easier with regex.

Would love to have native support for RegExp. At this moment, we are using QlikView RegExp macros to process the data and create QVD which are being consumed by Qlik Sense. The existing RegEx connector seems clunky and ungainly.

Hi there, it's not currently planned, but I would like to understand better. RegEx in load script? RegEx in expression editor? Are you looking for the ability to add a known pattern or do you expect a built-in pattern matcher like https://regex101.com/

I concur using a web connector is not ideal.

Hello @Jeffrey_Goldberg

Regex in both load and expression. In load script, I expect it written by hand and in expression with a little wizard such as regex101 or the wizard for set analysis.

Best regards,

Simon
