Native SVG support for image, icons, thumbnails....

Hello,

It appears that Qlik  does not accept .svg (or other vector image format) for thumbnails, image in dashboard, etc...

I think that would be a great idea, especially to manage web integration and support of different resolutions.
here an example of a svg logo I made :
Logo_BD_Market_vectoriel.svg

As you can see you can zoom in/out without loose quality.

For reference, here is long blog post about why SVG is great : https://bumpsetcreative.com/10-reasons-the-image-format-svg-is-rocking-the-internet/

To sum it up :

1) SVGs are widely supported

2) SVGs are speedy

3) SVGs scale perfectly

4) SVGs are high resolution

5) SVGs can be styled through CSS

6) SVGs can be animated

7) SVGs can be rearranged easily

8) SVGs support transparency

9) SVGs are great for readability

10) SVGs stand out

PS : I know there is an extension but that deserves to be natively supported for all kind of image.

Hello @Patric_Nordstrom

Yes, but unfortunately svg is not well supported by Internet Explorer.

I read here: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense-admin/February2021/Subsystems/DeployAdministerQSE/Content/Sense_De...

As of the April 2021 version, Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 will not be supported.

So, can we hope now Qlik Sense to support SVG for thumbnails, image, etc ? 😛

Best regards,

Simon

This is a much needed feature. Not only to use a svg, but to be able to configure it (change the color of an icon for example). Using icon-fonts in woff2 would be great also..

Hello @Patric_Nordstrom

Browser utilisation :

It seems clear that IE is dead.

In the other hand, SVG is gaining marketshare

No need to support the argument via flimsy browser usage statistics!

The Internet Explorer argument simply doesn't hold up, because Qlik Sense doesn't run on IE:
https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense-admin/February2023/Subsystems/DeployAdministerQSE/Content/Sense_De...

Supported browsers are:  Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, a number of mobile browsers.

No IE in sight. I see no reason to further delay SVG support.
