When adding a measure to a pivot or data chart, you can search for the field you want, but when you select it you are forced to pick an aggregation function to go with it, i.e. SUM, COUNT, AVG, MAX, MIN. Many times the measure is text and I just want to enter it alone without aggregation for various reasons including not wanting to have a search icon like dimensions because it's not a field users would search in. Do all measures really have to be measurable?
I would like the drop down option allow me to select the field as is without aggregation instead of having to either type it in manually and click enter, or select sum and then go edit sum out.
Henric Cronström call these "Naked References" and discourages the use of them. Behind the scenes they get wrapped in an Only() statement. but given the fact that they are possible, why make it so difficult?
