Qlik SaaS - Download DataFiles to local computer should be possible.. (a must)

We are a Qlik Partner delivering/delveloping Qlik Cloud Solutions to end-user-customers.

When performing ETL in the cloud, we use apps for extraction and apps for transformation when they reload they store data in the datafiles area... But I can be a bit slow to work in the cloud compared to a Qlik Sense desktop on your pc or our Qlik Sense Server. What we need to be able to do is to have a clone of the datafiles and apps on either our local computer or on our own enterprise Sense server when developing. This is a must... The cloud is simply too slow to work on. One should be able to download files from the datafiles areas, either mark them with check marks and then get a zip file or something..

Another problem with only working with a transform app in the cloud is, that if you mess up a join or something that takes all resources from the cpu or ram we cannot know this?? We cannot monitor it...

For every ones sake, I think this must be possible... It will also remove CPU and RAM usage from the cloud to local computers or servers.. 🙂 ...

A solution could be this :

- If it was possible to import a "Api key" from the Cloud into Qlik Sense desktop to make a secure connection to the cloud from Sense Desktop. Then from Sense Desktop one could get access to all the DataFiles and download and upload as one pleases...

Regards,

Anders

Hi,
It would be very useful to quickly check a QVD file generated on the cloud but also any data files.
I hope this feature will be implemented very soon.
Best Regards

Please implement the ability to extract data from cloud. If not please communicate why not!

I can't believe that we actually had to even request this feature. Finding out that this request was done over two years ago and still nothing has happend is a little frustrating.

Scenario: Client uploaded complex mapping file. Client is on Vacation. Boss of Client wants me to change mapping.

This is indeed a requirement for me as well.

This seems like a basic requirement for any kind of collaboration, even on a small team.  Please prioritize this request.

Hard to believe you haven't implemented this oft-requested feature yet. We have to keep copies of our data files in S3 or Google Cloud for comparison & archival purposes.

This is a critical need for SAAS and Qlik Cloud Government.
This should a pretty simple add, and it is urgently needed.
Please add this ASAP or sooner.

There must be a way for users to download the files that they add to Data Files, otherwise it is fairly useless as a storage place for excel files used in Qlik apps.

as a bare minimum, add a note in the user interface that tells users there is no way to download the files in Data Files  ---- so they know to maintain a copy of the file outside of QLIK, should it ever need to be updated.

Agree with this, I also think outputs from automations should be able to be stored locally to the tenant (not just to cloud providers) and downloadable in the same manner as data files. This will help customers who don’t have accessible cloud storage or SMTP servers to rely upon.

200% we need it.
Why?

We are playing every day (and spending time to make it happen) with various solutions, including Google Drive, One drive, more recent sFTP, instead of having something SIMPLE !!!

- Especially Config Files that controls variables, parameters, scripting metadata, formulas, etc should be in the cloud, but also editable by the right guys

- Keep in mind that some times we have stored QVDs in cloud that we would use or backup and cannot !

How?

-  a simple download file shouldn't be such a big fuss

- or... There is already QDT that can sync files from a  local folder to Qlik SaaS Space... why can't use it to send back  locally files as well !?

- it would be nice also to allow direct script load and store, somehow

- not very sure, but also Qlik Automations might bring something to the table... (if not already !?)

I agree there are some security concerns that has to be considered, but data catalog is already there (it should already have some data accessibility rights sotred),  and at least the Space Admins (and/or other roles, as well, perhaps) should be able to get the data back locally.
