Before publishing an app, I always make sure each sheet has a thumbnail that looks like the corresponding sheet. It would be great if we had a feature that would help us capture right away the screen into the thumbnail without having to use external tools to do so.
Lacking this feature, a few years ago I created a tool that at least makes it easier to upload entire collections of good icons, formatted (wrt size, aspect ratio, color) to look good as thumbnails. Not the same as a mini-view of the actual sheet, but none the less useful at times.
When I tried this tool a few weeks ago it seems one of its dependencies was broken, so I worked around it. Haven't gotten around to document it/update the git repo tho, sorry.. But ping me if you get stuck and I'll try to help out short term at least.
Yes I heard about this one but it is not meant to be free in the long run right? Plus I think this really needs to be a standard feature. It’s not difficult to make. As a matter of fact I think the thumbnail should show the sheet as it is by default unless something is being uploaded in its place.
Thank you for your feedback on ways to improve our product. While this is something we understand would be useful, it's not on the short-term roadmap. Please continue to show your support for this idea.
I agree that thumbnail are helpful, I would say it's always better to spend 3 mins and make a specific thumbnail. A screenshot of the whole page usually gets too crowded.
In my own opinion manually created thumbnail copies are not the best solution.
Today I was working with a relatively new customer on this very topic.
The ability to set an app property to automatically set the sheet thumbnail images would be a massive advantage. Capturing screens and uploading media is almost immediately out of date in a fast changing application ( which after all is the whole point of Qlik Sense ).
