Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows: Data window functions in engine load script (November 2023 and later)

The Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows November 2023 release introduced Data window functions in the engine load script. See What's New. The feature enables complex calculations on data tables in the Qlik load script to perform aggregation on different partitions without losing the granularity of the data.

The feature is not switched on by default in the November 2023 release. This article documents how to enable it.

Resolution

Qlik Sense Server

1. Stop the Qlik Sense Engine and Qlik Sense Service Dispatcher services on all nodes with engines.
2. Navigate to Settings.ini file
   By default, it is located under C:\ProgramData\Qlik\Sense\Engine\Settings.ini
3. Open the file as an administrator.
4. Add this parameter 
   

   EnableWindowScriptFunction=1

5. Save the file.
6. Start the Qlik Sense Engine and Qlik Sense Service Dispatcher services on each node.

Qlik Sense Desktop

1. Navigate to Settings.ini file
   By default, it is located under C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Qlik\Sense\Settings.ini
2. Open the file as an administrator.
3. Add this parameter
   

   EnableWindowScriptFunction=1

4. Save the file.

The feature will be automatically enabled in future releases and service releases.
