Passing filters in On Demand Report

Dear all

I have two Qlik Sense apps:

App A is only for On Demand Reporting

App B contains charts to be used in an On Demand Report that is called in app A

Is there any possibility to pass filter information (selected values, variables ...) from app A to the NPrinting filter connected to app B?

App A uses the same QVD files as app B so for example  filters can be created simiarly.

Thanks a lot in advance for your help

Andy

Well. It is all configuration of OnDemand qlik sense extension.
extension is responsible for picking up current selection from app it is embedded and using it as filter on app used as a source of ondemand report.

and yeah, fields you want to use as filters need to be in both apps, have exactly the same datatype (numeric, text, dual, date timestamp).

Ability of having app A as front end app for OnDemand NPrinting reports and App B as a source data for actual report was changing between different versions of Qlik Sense (not NPrinting), due to the changes in OnDemand qlik sense extension.

Feb 2020 and April 2020 have additional configuration (toggle) whcih allows you to turn this option on or off an informs you about risks when this option is on.

On functionality side - filters (selections will be passed), but variables are NEVER part of selection state. Variables changed by users in UI will not be transfered to NPrinting when generating reports. We talked about it on multiple occasions and even yesterday I explained that variable state is not passed during OnDemand report production:

Thank you for your quick answer Lech. To understand you right: In Nov 2019 Qlik Sense Version we cannot pass information at all. With Feb 2020 it is possible to pass a filter selection.

Can you shortly describe how to pass a filter selection vom app A (front end for reports) to app B (source)?  Is it to create a filter pane in app A with the same data used in app B?

Kind regards and cheers, Andy

Thank you for the information Lech. Just wondering where I can find that in the Qlik documentation for Feb 2020 or Apr 2020? May be you can provide me with a screenshot or anything to imagine how the toggle/extension than  looks like.

Thanks a lot in advance, Andy

search for this:

"You can use the App/Connection filter toggle to display connections not associated with the current Qlik Sense app."

ok thanks, really appreciate.

We will try that in the current QS version. But I´m not sure, if this really is the solution for all our reports. What if a report has more than one connection, then I would really need to pass a filter, not to use the external connection.

Reports with more than one connection will never work properly with OnDemand-full stop!1

you should have thought about it when planning your reports, so they were built from only one connection.
