Currently any member of a space can see each and every one of the notes. This takes away all privacy. It would be much more usable if we could direct our messages only to the appropriate people, authorized to see the information we display in our snapshots.
Thanks for raising Ife, I was just about to raise similar but realised you'd already mentioned this. The lack of adherence of the Notes thumbnails to the underlying section access security layer of our applications creates a massive data vulnerability for those apps. As such we've had to turn off notes completely from our SaaS tenant. What i'd suggest would make this at least more usable is:-
Instead of giving everyone in the space view access, making it necessary to add this view permission in the same way you can manage permissions and upgrade users to edit access - Linked to your suggestion
Allow for the toggle at an app level like you can do to manage insight adviser. This would allow us to benefit from the feature in applications that don’t deploy section access
Remove the thumbnail as part of capturing the snapshot. Once you click the link to view the original object this is bound by the section access, so it’s only the thumbnail in the notes pane itself that is problematic
Hopefully this gets some traction with Qlik as feels like a fundamental flaw in an otherwise exceptionally useful feature!
This is a top roadmap item for Notes. We are working on offering Note authors more control over visibility of the Note. The capability will follow the introduction of fine grain control access for the platform.
Will this update include pushing Note notifications to users who are part of a security group? Currently you can tag these types of users in a Note but they don't get the email or push alert.
