I like the Dollar-sign expansion preview in the expression editor, BUT, the UI around it is not good.  if you have a large expression you cannot reach the hide arrow unless you fully expand your desktop window.  My suggestion is make the default  to HIDE the preview until a user indicates they want to see the preview.

While I agree, that the preview UI needs improvements I personally highly disagree that hiding the preview should be the default.
