Hello Qlik Users!

With the recent change to Qlik Sense Desktop, we have seen some users facing issues with authentication. Users are reporting the following error message:

Failed to authenticate against the selected server. Please make sure your internet connection is working and try again.

There are a few reasons why this error could occur.

Solution

The firewall is blocking the required ports.

Contact your local IT/network administrator and ensure that the following URLs can be reached using https (port 443): *qlik.com, *.auth0.com and *qlikcloud.com.

Version of Qlik Sense Desktop.

Verify that you have the most up to date version of Qlik Sense Desktop installed.

A proxy is being used to access the internet.

It may be necessary to bypass the Proxy to log on and authenticate or to contact your local/IT network administrator to ensure the appropriate ports are opened.

A VPN is being used.

Disconnect from the VPN or contact your l local/IT network administrator to ensure the appropriate ports are opened.

The incorrect license was granted in Qlik Sense Enterprise.

A professional or user access license is required to authenticate against Qlik Sense Enterprise.

Note that it doesn't have to be the latest version of Qlik Sense Desktop. I am running a February 2020 SP1 and it authenticates fine against our June 2020 SP1 server. It is only a specific June 2020 Desktop that doesn't seem to work.

@oknotsen Yes, that is true. It should also be noted that if using Qlik Sense Business to authenticate, you will need to check your version and possibly download the newest.

Our problem is a littel bit different.
When we try to authenticate qlik sense desktop, it say "opening of selected hub failed"
Someone have some ideas?

@CamunaCavi if I'm not wrong you should still be able to use the following link to see the LEF: http://lef1.qliktech.com/manuallef/default.aspx
Just insert the License number (without spaces) and check if you have the mentioned rows.

Historically I recall that test licenses were not using user model (so professional/analyzer), I'm not sure if anything changed on that side.

@rzenere_avvale  Yes, actually doing that check turns out to be a "test" version. I didn't quite understand what that thing indicates, however we have purchased that license.
What can we do to solve it?

Thx for help.

Hi@rzenere_avvale. We received by email two different signed license keys and we entered by mistake the test site one.
Now we entered in the qmc > license management the right signed license key; if we run LEF checker we got the following:

390xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
DELAYED_SYNC;YES;;2020-08-31
GEOANALYTICS;YES;;
PRODUCTLEVEL;50;;
PROFESSIONAL;1;;
SPECIAL_EDITION;DEVELOPMENT;;
SUBSCRIPTION;YES;2020-07-02;2021-07-02
WEBCONNECTORS;YES;;
6VXE-xxxx-F7S4-xxxx-9A94

We restarted all the Qlik services but we got the same error.
Any ideas?

Hi @CamunaCavi , I've never tried one personally, but as far as I know with a SPECIAL_EDITION;DEVELOPMENT;; you should still be able to unlock QS Desktop (reference: https://support.qlik.com/articles/000033603 )

Are you connecting using the same user that has been assigned the professional license?

@Jamie_Gregory  I have 2 questions.

1、"Please note: Authentication against Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows requires a professional license". Does this mean user with the analyzer license won't be able to access the Qlik Sense Desktop? How can I identify my qlik  sense license type.By the way,I bought license in 2016.

2、Is there any influence on production enviroment when generating authentication link?

Looking forward to your reply!
