Hello Qlik Admins and Developers,

The next major Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows release is scheduled for November 2024. The update will introduce changes that will have an impact on the following add-ons:

  • Qlik Alerting (link)
  • Qlik Sense Mobile client-managed (link)
  • qlik-cli (link) Upgrade to v.2.25.0 or higher
  • qlik/api (link) Upgrade to v1.12.0 or higher
  • Qlik Sense .NET SDK (link) Upgrade to v16.8.0 or higher

The changes affecting the add-ons are:

  • Extended CSRF protection to Websocket requests
  • Adding support for CSRF to add-on products

New versions of all affected add-ons will be available with the November 2024 release, and the associated Release Notes will provide detailed information on any improvements and changes.

Please plan your upgrade accordingly to prevent interruptions:

If you upgrade to Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows November 2024, all listed add-ons must be upgraded as well.

Thank you for choosing Qlik,
Qlik Support

Thanks for sharing Sonja.

Do we have any more details what exactly the CSRF changes/requirements will be?

Regards!

Stefan

@surajmaraje_HSBC a release date has not yet been made public.

@stefanstoichev123 we expect more information to be available in the release notes.

Thanks again for highlighting this change.

We have a lot of scripts and backend services where we are interacting with the REST API and have a lot ot mashups that interact with the Engine API so this early warning is very welcome 🙂

@Sonja_Bauernfeind

"...we expect more information to be available in the release notes."

That's great, but in order to prep for a release like this (where an upgrade is more demanding that a regular upgrade) it would be useful with some advance info on what's changed.

Might just be a few pointers to what has changed, and we can at least start thinking about what needs to be done in the systems that interact with QSEoW via the APIs.

Thx,

Göran

Looking at version numbers of add-ons currently released, it looks like we can already update the add-ons if we're not running the required versions of the add-ons yet.

I'm assuming there's no known issues to updating the add-ons ahead of time and making sure they're working fine with latest, May 2024 version of Qlik Sense.

Is anyone already running versions of qlik-cli v.2.25.0, qlik/api v1.12.0, or Qlik Sense .NET SDK v16.8.0? If yes, would you please let us know if you're having any issues with any of these versions of add-ons?

Hello @howdash

These can already be upgraded, yes. However, not everything has a release yet.

All the best,
Sonja

Thanks @Sonja_Bauernfeind! I'll start testing what I already can.

What about PostgreSQL? I don't see it on the list. I know that PostgreSQL is not an add-on, so it's likely not listed here because of that, but I wanted to ask just in case.

Version 12 of PostgreSQL is reaching end of life in few weeks, on November 14, 2024. If we're running version of Qlik Sense that is bundled with version 12.5 of PostgreSQL, will we be able to upgrade to November 2024 version of Qlik Sense?

Or would we need to use the QPI tool to get PostgreSQL unbundled and upgraded to a newer version before we will be able to upgrade to November 2024 version of Qlik Sense?
