Use case or more info on how to use generic schemas from repository

Hi Team,

Could anyone pls share any useful links or blogs reg the use of Generic schémas.

How is this different than the Metadata - File schéma or DB schema ?

and how do we use it in a job ?

      As the name suggest, you can use this schema for any generic need compared to a specialized schema which are created for specific need (eg DB schema)

Hi Nikhil,
But even in the file metadata or db metadata, we can specify the no of columns required.
say an e.g i have a db table in oracle which has 10 columns however while defining the table schémas i can define specific number of columns (say only 5 columns)
Then how or when or in which compnent this generic schema can be used ?

If possible, can u share any  usecase or sample for the same .

Hi Vidya,

     Generic schema is used where you do not want to limit the usage of schema tied to any specific file type or database type.

You can easily change a generic schema to target format. Another use of genric schema is to save the schema you have created by built in mode. When you save the data by pressing the floppy disk icon, it will be saved as generic schema for future use.
