how many engine node we could have in one cluster?

Hi

Currently there is discussion that we assign each customer own dedicated engine. This way we can monitor better and avoid 'bad-designed' app to affect all other customers.

Question is, how many engines we can have in one cluster?

How many nodes can we have in one cluster?

Best regards,

Susan

Hi susan,

It depends on your license as how many Qlik servers you can use in one multi node. Default is 7, 1 central and rest is on your business use case. each node could have one engine. there could be a node which hasn't any engine lets say proxy service node.

For more details on multi node setup please follow the link: https://community.qlik.com/t5/Qlik-Sense-Enterprise-Documents/Best-Practices-of-Qlik-Sense-Multi-Nod...

Hi Rohit

Thank you for answering!

Does the number after 'PRODUCTLEVEL' tell how many nodes we can use in one cluster?
For example, we have PRODUCTLEVEL;50;; in LEF, does it mean we can have max 50 nodes in 1 cluster?

Our current set up is 6-node cluster environment with 2019June version. In our experience with QlikView, we had couple of resource-sucking documents which caused QVS nodes not responding at all. All customers in the same node suffers. Therefore, when we design Qlik Sense architecture, one idea is to isolate customer environments. For example: each customer has own dedicated engine node for rendering. Or maybe each customer has own dedicated Qlik Sense environment.

That's why I'm asking how many dedicated engine nodes we can have in each cluster.

We have tried performance tuning. But if an app has all the historical changes, it is very difficult to make improvement without breaking anything. Therefore probably some kind of 'isolated' environment might be helpful, if it is feasible.

What is your view on this?

Susan

I am sure it is not for cluster node count PRODUCTLEVEL;50;; in LEF, it could be token count

Secondly,

6 nodes means you have 6 Qlik servers which could have 6 engines, depends how did you add rim nodes to central node

Each customer has own node, it is possible when you sync particular app to particular node. Please read about load balancing in Qlik Sense.

Load balancing simply means you will share the one node load among more than 1 node. You can set on which node app reload will happen and which node will serve the app.

if you want your one node will be only for one Qlik server so you may ask to IT to redirect a set of user on one specific consumer or proxy Qlik server only or sync the apps to specific node.

There are many scenarios you can achieve.

Thanks,

Rohit
