thank you for writing this.
Is there any chance this could be made less cumbersome and allow the files to be deleted directly from the Catalog while looking at the list of items?
Hello @Ken_T
I found a few ideas that may be what you are looking for! I would recommend voting on them and leaving your comment/suggestions.
I would like to delete files from the data spaces at the Data Analytics page
Qlik SaaS - Include Delete and Move options for data files in the actions button menu
Checkbox for editing/deleting many data-sources at once Qlik cloud SAAS
all the best,
Sonja
what if i need to delete 1000 files , we need to click 100 times
Hello there!
I used successfully both methods... with certain oddities. Method 1 worked fine for some files but not all those I wanted to delete. Then I used Method 2 for other files, but it was not possible to delete the remaining ones...
Now, I have some files that I cannot delete, like this one:
The menu does not show "Delete" like for other files I deleted already...
What can be wrong here? I don't want to keep certain files in the cloud.
Any help is welcome.
Thank you!
~D.
@DEMONIO_AZUL your screenshot looks like you are looking at things in the catalog list. the 2 supported ways to delete right now are 1. Space details > Data files 2. from inside the data load editor.
the ideas that @Sonja_Bauernfeind linked are related to qlik possibly considering building in functionality to delete the files from the catalog list area.... Apps can be deleted from the catalog list, but data files currently cannot be deleted from there. you have to use one of the 2 options for deleting files
@ChannaK right now - 1,000 deletes = at least 1,000 clicks and a lot of scrolling
one of the ideas above is related to a suggested improvement for that 🙂
@Ken_T Thanks for your quick reply.
Yes, I know I am in the Catalog - that was to show the file I want to delete.
As I mentioned in my initial comment, I have successfully used both Methods for other files, but the file I indicate in my first image: zzTBDeleted007 is not shown in either Space or the Data Load Editor.
It's there and I cannot delete it. That's the issue so far.
I included zz in the filename to push it down in the list, and as you can see by the number, I have 6 more files to be deleted that are in the same case and are "leftovers" of both Methods.
Any hints why I cannot delete some files using the Methods above?
It is good that there are proposed solutions to be able to delete data files more easily, I second those, and knowing Qlik, they will consider them. But I am not asking -right now- for that. I have a problem with leftover files that cannot be deleted in any way.
perhaps that is a cache related issue. you will not be able to delete data files from the catalog list. if the file is showing in the catalog space list, but not showing in Space details > Data files and not showing in the data load editor data files list for that space, then you may need to contact support.... but that sounds like a cache issue (qlik cache not browser cache). I suspect it will resolve itself after some time.
Ok, thanks, @Ken_T .... I will contact support.
There should be also options to delete (& move/rename) files from script !
It's kind of embarrassing not having such a simple option !
I know Qlik Automation can be a solution for bulk deletes, but some times you need a closer way to the script. Of course there are always some workarounds...
But the SIMPLE in the SAFE slogan Qlik has a decade ago is VERY LOST !!
And all the links posted by Sonja... are already CLOSED !
