Extensive Audit Logging in Production on Large Data Sets

Hi,

Does anyone have this turned on in an evironment where the daily audit log size can reach 100MB, 500MB, 1GB or more?  I'm interested in learning more about how this might impact performance.

SSD may better facilitate this scenario and if a client has moved to SSD because of performance issues related to extensive audit logging, please share your experience here as well.
