Different version on the desktop client than server.

We are planning on upgrading our servers to QV 11.20 sr12.
Unfortunately we have some problems with deploying the desktop client to some of our users.
I can see the benefit from running the same version on the client as on the server BUT is it possible to run the SR5 on some of the clients and sr12 on most clients and on the server?
Assuming you only use the client to develop the applications, this will be no problem at all.
If you however do funky stuff with SR12 (like Direct Discovery with multiple tables) and have your end-users download those QVW's to their SR5 local clients, it will cause problems.
