Problem with Copy Sheet

Hi Experts,

I am stuck in a situation where I had a sheet in my App, which I used to show data for 2015. Then for advance planning for 2016 I had to create a similar tab but with data for 2016. So, I just copied the old sheet rename it.

Now, the problem is, if I make any change in new sheet, for ex: If I change any object, then the change is automatically cascading to old sheet. Which I do not want, I want old sheet to remain intact.

Any Idea or suggetions would be really appreciated.

Thanks,

-Kamal

The objects on the old sheet are probably linked objects, causing your changes to any copy to propagate to all the other copies.

On your new sheet, copy all objects to the clipboard, delete the current objects (you will get a dialog - do not delete all linked objects, just this selection) and paste the ones from the clipboard as regular objects, not as linked ones.

Thanks for prompt reply, I definitely want to try this way.

Now, I see one more problem. The objects in my old sheet have already been changed.. And it would be very difficult to restore them. As, there are so many pivots inside container. And I have changed so many columns in it.

However, I have an old copy of app. So, is there any way I can copy and paste objects from old app to new app.

Thanks

Ok. No Problem.. I could copy all the items.. The properties of the object were not allowing them to copy. I changed that and I could copy.. Thanks

Sure Peter,

However, it is still not done. Even I am trying to copy objects from old version. But as soon as I paste them to the new app, they are changing themselves as per the new sheet in new app.

So, No Luck.

Any Idea what can be the reason or solution..

Thanks,

Kamal

No, If I delete the new objects... I have to recreate them.

How exactly are they changing themselves? Do they align with your style settings (e.g. colors, transparency and such) or do they fold (probably caused by changed expressions, missing fields or different field names)?

That s the issue, while replacing it takes the object ID , No don't delete the new objects...you want to replace the edited objects with the old ones rite?? for that you can delete the modified old once with the back up objects.

Take a backup of the file before doing it
