Right now, this is just a theory (I have not been able to prove with 100% certainty the cause of this bug).. so take what you can from my experience and fill me in if I missed searching the forums where this had been previously discussed.
So I have a calculation condition, in an object, within a container. The object is (let's just say) the second 'tab' in the container, and is not the first visible unit to the end-user.
The calculation condition also has an error message setup to inform the user why the screen is empty. Right now, it's going on a selection within 'fiscal_week' to help drill-down time periods first.
The calculation condition works, even the error message is visible - but not immediately upon loading up the QVW. It's almost as if I have to switch tabs a few times, select values (in any field) and then hit 'CLEAR' before this is visible in the web portal view, and the issue only occurs (as far as I can tell) while using the IE plugin. I've tested this on a few machines, and within different browsers (even IE8 AND 9) and it always fails to display the calculation condition error message from the initial load, while using the IE plugin, until the end user selects something and then hits 'Clear' with the object on-screen. The AJAX plugin never has this problem that I could find.
So, a short recap:
QVW has a Container
Container has several Objects (not the first visible object upon load-in)
Object has a calculation condition (that works properly)
Calculation Condition has an Error Message (that works also... except for...
... Error message is not visible to start, without selecting values and then clearing them while remaining on the object with the Calculation Condition.
Your next question will probably be: Can you post a sample QVW with this behavior?
Unfortunately, I have tried multiple times to recreate the problem in a separate QVW (without any proprietary data) to no avail. If push comes to shove (and you all can't seem to replicate or haven't heard of this before) I will do my darndest to prove this issue to you all in my free time.
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
