NPrinting does not send reports - what actions should be done?

Hi,

we experience bad NPrinting performance at our different customers around the world.

Sometimes, NPrinitng does not send reports accurately and we can't find explicit reason for that.

Sometimes, NPrinting does not send reports because its service is down or Qlikview service is down.

So, what set of actions should we do in order to prevent this situation?

Thanks,

Inna

It could also be helpful restarting any NPrinting related Services for instance each night - some services have memory leaks or accumulate "errors" during usage and might get a clean start if you restart them on a schedule.

This does not necessarily have to be done manually but could be done by a CMD-file being scheduled by QlikView Publisher as a Supporting Task or with Windows Task Scheduler...

Anyway I think QlikView support should be involved an come up with a fix for you.

What kind of reports in NPrinting are you using - is it PDF, Office (which one Excel or others) or do you use PixelPerfect?

What is the typical number of reports/files made and at what interval?

Hi,

usually we send HTML embedded Reports in Outlook emails or excel files attached.

Typical number is 3-7 reports per customer which are sent in different times a day, usually in the morning .

There are reports we send some times a day - for example, each 3 hours .

Also, there are reports we send once a day.

Do you generate many in each batch? Is it centralized from just one point of distribution?

Hi,

our reports don't get out at the same time, but come out very close to one another at some clients:

08:00,08:15,08:30,08:45,08:55,09:00.

But sometimes it is due to customers request.

For each customer it gets out from one server.

Sorry for all the questions - but is really hard to determine the cause by not having some details about the symptoms and the environment ...

Do you know where the failure originates - that is - does it fail at generating the HTML or Excel or is it during the distribution phase when it tries to send the emails? How are the emails sent - by SMTP or do you use another mechanism like Outlook intergration directly?

Hi,

the failure happens while generating html/excel reports.

The emails are sent by smtp.

So I suspect the component responsible for generating HTML and Excel is not robust while being repeatedly scheduled. It is definitely a case for Qlik support to help you out with. You should immediately contact them and let them troubleshoot this issue.
