Order By issue with regular load

I am trying to load a table file and sort it using an ORDER BY Field DESC statement. It gives me an error.

If I use the ORDER BY by doing a resident load of the previously loaded table, it works.

Does ORDER BY work only with resident loads?

Yes, according to the Help, Order By only works on Resident Loads.
