Reload Failure on the Governance Apps. How do I get them working again?

Hi there,

Was recently looking into the governance app and realized that they hadn't been updated since April 13, 2015. I looked into the scheduler and it had Failure beside both of the Operations and Licensing reloads.

Is there a way to get these two apps working again?

Thanks,

Tony

But is the Qlik\Sense folder password protected?  I've not seen a username and password in use for the data connections, so I'm curious if that might be causing an issue.

First, though, you say there are no files in the Qlik\Sense\Repository\Archived Logs folder?  No folders either?

That should not cause a failure.  However, if there are no files in Qlik\Sense\Log\ (within the service folders like Engine, etc.) then you have an issue.  Could be that you are looking at the wrong c:\ or the Qlik Services are writing the logs to another directory (unlikely).

Hi Tyler,

Not sure why the security is like that. What should it be?

Also I've attached screen shots of the directories to show what is in each one.

Thanks,

You've got files there. So I would say try removing that username and password on the Data Connection and reload.

If that doesn't work, try logging in to the server where the app would be reloaded as the service account running the Qlik Sense services and then see if you can open a txt file in that folder.

OK, removed the user id from the data connection, not impact.

I can open the txt files in the folder as QS admin.

I've tried to recreate a new reload of the License app, no luck.

Any thing else I could try to resolve this issue?

What error(s) are you getting?

You would see that in the script log in qlik\sense\log\script.

Operations Monitor GUID is 0d69ccdf-7bc4-44a4-a6e2-b0f5cc4f9033

The task to reload License Monitor fails.

I can view the GUID file but could not tell you if there is an error, but the latest GUID file is from 04/30/2015 6:05pm

I would need more details about the failure in order to troubleshoot.

For example -

  1. are you reloading from QMC or from the client (hub)?
  2. Attach the script log files (the latest one(s) which failed to load)
  3. What happens if you remove all the QVDs from the Qlik\Sense\Log folder?

HI Tyler,

1. I am loading from the QMC.

2. The only thing that is failing is the reload task for the license and Operations app. Please let me know which scripts you need and where they are located.

3. I remove the QVDs from the Qlik\Sense\log folder and the reload tasks have a "...Reset" Status and remain ln that status.

I can setup a go to meeting and showing you first hands what is happening? Let me know what time of day works for you. I'm in the Eastern Standard time zone.

Thanks,

Tony

Tyler,

Restarted the QS Server. The Licensing App task was successfull and the License App open with Data last loaded of May 11.

However, the Operations reload task status is failure and when I try and open Operations app this is the message box, An error occurred. The app file you are attempting to load from script is corrupt.

Let me know what info you need for this and if you need scripts, where i would find them.

Thanks,

Tony

Glad to hear that License Monitor is reloading.

But, ah, the dreaded 'corrupt app'.

Good news is that when you installed Qlik Sense, the installer put down a copy of both apps in the Qlik\Sense\Repository\DefaultApps folder.

I recommend replacing the corrupt Operations Monitor with the DefaultApps qvf as follows:

  1. Import the Operations Monitor.qvf from Qlik\Sense\Repository\DefaultApps
    1. You will be warned that "Operations Monitor" already exists
    2. you can rename the app upon import or just import it.
  2. Once imported, published the imported Operations Monitor (or whatever you renamed it to) to the Governance stream (or Monitoring apps stream - wherever the current Operations Monitor is)
    1. *REPLACE the existing Operations Monitor > follow the prompts when you publish to replace the app
    2. Click okay or yes when you are asked to replace the existing app
  3. For good measure, delete the governaceLogContent*.qvd from Qlik\Sense\Log
  4. The Operations monitor is updated now and should reload

If the steps above do not work - i.e. you get the corrupt app message again - you can delete the app using the QMC > Apps section and then import the other Operations Monitor.

Let me know how this goes.
