How can it be so difficult to enter the ideation area?

I got an email from Qlik Ideation due to an added comment on a request, and the email has a link "Reply and see request details". When I click that link, all I get is this:

The I use the support link in the top menu of Qlik Community and I go to Ideation - Browse and Suggest https://community.qlik.com/t5/Ideation/ct-p/qlik-product-insight and I search the idea I want to visit in the table. I find it and I click its link, only to end up at the same error message.

In the Browse and Suggest table there is a text stating "To post an idea or authenticate yout login, first click Suggest Features" above this app." So I click that link and all that happens is that I am returned to the same Browse and Suggest page again, and when I once again click the idea link I still get the same error as in the image above.

"Suggest features" is the first of the links in this widget bar above the ideas table:

The second widget says "Open Portal" but the same thing happens as when I click the first link.

The third widget is Learn More [about Ideation], and it leads to https://community.qlik.com/t5/About-Ideation/ct-p/qlik-aboutideation. On that page there are five links at the bottom and only the first and last are working, the other (e.g. "How to submit an idea") leads to an error page.

Just before posting this message I come up with the idea to try with Google Chrome instead of Firefox that I am using - and now the link in the email that I got works! But instead, the Browse and Suggest table gives me an authenticate button, and when I click that I end up on an error page at ideation.qlik.com. Well, after once again reloading the Browse and Suggest page I can use it in Chrom and redirections to the ideation area works.

But I choose to post this anyways, even though I got it working in Chrome in the end. Does it really have to be this complicated to access ideation?

Hi all, thanks for bringing these up. A few things can be addressed and simplified and should be operating differently than you showed here - so I can add those tasks and look into them. The login issue with the Pendo Feedback page is a known gripe and I am working on getting the development going there - definitely not desired behavior and you're not the only one.

I didn't realize that there was a different behavior between Chrome and Firefox, sounds like that is causing quite a few errors that were resolved already in Chrome.

I'll keep this updated with adjustments. Once you are logged into the portal, there is a better experience for voting, commenting, and managing the ideas on the backend - and we have seen a clear improvement in manageability and updating of ideas, on the internal side. We are also integrating with Jira to provide more clarity. In my opinion this login experience is the biggest thing holding the portal back from being a significantly improved system, so I will keep working on getting that to work smoothly.

Hope that helps!

Yep, a weird combination of clicking random things and maybe getting an auth pop-up generally gets there for me. Doesn't seem to be the same between attempts... does feel a bit half-baked.

Hi @Meghann_MacDonald,

I'm currently trying to find a solution to the topic Current Selection while export data which is in Ideation>Ideas. The last comment is one from you which provides a 'Link to new idea' and then the thread is closed. When I click on your link, I get the weird login screen which doesn't work for me when I try to login. Your alternative 'Authenticate me!' link simply re-opens the same closed thread in a new tab. So I'm stuck in a loop, which is a bit frustrating. Unfortunately I can't use alternative browsers and I don't have control over the pop-up blocker if that is the issue.

This isn't the first time I've hit this issue, and other really useful conversations have been closed and seemingly moved elsewhere, but I can't get to the new location !

Any ideas ?

Thanks David,

Updating here and I'll try to communicate to other places as well. We do have a fix for the issues with not being able to access a link, that will significantly improve the poor experiences in the past year since migration. This should be released in the next month and I'll update here when released. Defintiely a concerned shared with others.

However, if you aren't able to control the pop-up blockers, that may not fix your case. The reason you're getting a loop is definitely due to the pop-up blockers. I'll address that separately with the developers and see if we can fix both, because its definitely not a great experience to have a key system treated as a pop-up. Let me pursue that and see what we can do.

Thanks for bringing this feedback up.

There was no release of this functionality in September. I just now found a link in a forum discussion to an idea that I want to vote for, but I just get the impossible login page and I don't remember what the workarounds was to get inside the ideation area. Will we see a release that enables easy (or enbles at all) login in October?

Meghann_MacDonald

Hey Henrik, we began the implementation this week, and we are working out the technical aspect of Qlik's SSO login. I will keep this post updated and we are aiming to launch mid-october.

Meghann_MacDonald

Hi, almost the last update.

We have implemented about 75% of the solution! As of now, if you open a link from the app or you use a link sent to you by Customer Success/Qlik employees, you will see a URL string on the end of it. This will correct the login process and get you access through Qlik Community & Qlik Account login.

Try it now: https://ideation.qlik.com/app/#/case/273570?cpid=be69a79b-d0b2-46ac-93b6-c3ebd056ed34

If you are a customer or partner and want to share a link, as of today it still shows up as the idea link without the CPID string. Ex : https://ideation.qlik.com/app/#/case/273570 . This link will only work after you are already authenticated into ideation.qlik.com via the buttons on https://community.qlik.com/t5/Ideation/ct-p/qlik-product-insight. That will be updated next week, so that the string is always added, enabling users to share idea links with the proper authentication.

I'll update here when that's complete. In the meantime, please let me know if you have questions, or want to try it out more.
