Reload Failure on the Governance Apps. How do I get them working again?

Hi there,

Was recently looking into the governance app and realized that they hadn't been updated since April 13, 2015. I looked into the scheduler and it had Failure beside both of the Operations and Licensing reloads.

Is there a way to get these two apps working again?

Thanks,

Tony

Tony - this is for Qlik Sense (Operations Monitor and License Monitor)?

(I answered your other question too quickly - thinking it was the Governance Dashboard in QlikView).

If it is for sense, send me a note directly as Support is not up-to-speed on these apps yet.

Hi Tyler,

This is for the Qlik Sense Server that I recently installed. They worked

for awhile and then stopped loading the data. When I start the License App

it shows the last reload date of April 13, 2015.

When I look at the QMC Scheduler the reloads have failed beside both the

License and Operations apps. These two apps are a must have, so I really

need to get them working. There is was a discussion I read on deleting the

QVD files, but first stopping all the Qlik Sense Services, having

permissions to file etc. I did this but it didn't solve the problem.

Please let me know what I can do to get them both running again with the

latest log data.

Thanks,

Tony

Tony,

Can you send me the following?

  1. Version of Qlik Sense
  2. Environment setup - e.g. single node running Windows Server 2012
  3. Screen shot of the log folder (default is c:\programdata\qlik\sense\log)
  4. Script log for both License Monitor and Operations Monitor. I think there is just one for each (with the latest reload attempt).  If there are multiple, just send me the latest.  Also, I think they might be named by their GUID. You want 0d69ccdf-7bc4-44a4-a6e2-b0f5cc4f9033 and 3a1be6fa-99b4-422c-94a8-de031c94a7f3.
  5. Any other details or nuances about your Sense environment - service account changes, or special circumstances.

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi Tyler,

1. Version of Qlik Sense - 1.1

2. Environment setup - Single Node Windows 2012 R2 - Quad Core, 8 GB Mem

3. Screen shot of the log folder (default is

c:\programdata\qlik\sense\log) - see attached Log Directory ScreenCapture

4. Script log for both License Monitor and Operations Monitor. I think

there is just one for each (with the latest reload attempt). If there are

multiple, just send me the latest. Also, I think they might be named by

their GUID. You want 0d69ccdf-7bc4-44a4-a6e2-b0f5cc4f9033 and

3a1be6fa-99b4-422c-94a8-de031c94a7f3. See Attached zip file

Aha - I see the following error: in both logs:

Error: Connection not found: ArchivedLogsFolder

Is it possible that server trolls have removed or modified the Data Connection "ArchivedLogFolder" (in QMC > Data Connections)?  By default, it is set to:

C:\ProgramData\Qlik\Sense\Repository\Archived Logs\

Check the QMC to see if that is still there. If it is still there and correct, then your case is very tricky.

If ArchivedLogsFolder data connection is not there, you can get it back by doing the following.

* Log in as the admin account, if possible. (You at least need to be a ContentAdmin or RootAdmin)

1) Import the License Monitor app from C:\ProgramData\Qlik\Sense\Repository\DefaultApps.

(You will be prompted to rename the app because License Monitor already exists. Change the name to something fun.)

2) Publish the imported license Monitor app to the Governance stream and replace the existing License Monitor app. (This preserves the GUID and reload task association.)

3) Try to reload both apps again (one at a time).

4) (optional) Follow steps 1 and 2 for Operations Monitor.

If the ArchivedLogsFolder data connection is present but incorrect, change it back to the default: C:\ProgramData\Qlik\Sense\Repository\Archived Logs\

Hopefully this makes sense.

Let me know how it goes.

HI Tyler,

Just did another QlikSense Server install and I have the same problem with the Operations and Licensing app. The Data Connection is there, so as per your last email, "If it is still there and correct, then your case is very tricky."

See attached as it show the log location but there are no files in that directory.

Any suggestions...

Thanks,

Tony - Is the folder password protected?  I see you have populated it with userID QS_System and a password.  Is QS_System the account under which the Qlik services (Engine, repository, scheduler, etc.) are running?

HI Tyler,

QS_System is the QlikSense Admin user account I created when I installed the QlikSense Server.
