I just upgraded to NP April 2018 and am continuing to see inconsistent behavior with NP publish tasks. Half of the time tasks are launched per their schedule and run fine, and half of the time they fail but if continue to retry the task it eventually works.
For instance:
The 8am run was launched by the scheduled time in the task, the 8:59am run was launched manually, and then the 9:33am run was launched manually, and finally successful.
Both times this failed it gave me: "ERROR: All documents failed to generate: Exceeded maximum number of retries"
I see some older posts regarding reloading metadata and the error "Exceeded maximum number of retries", but not much that has been helpful in terms of NP publish tasks. Any insight anyone can provide is appreciated. Thanks.
Did you ever find out the cause of these issues? I have tasks that randomly fail as well. Work fine one day, then out of the blue it will fail with "Execution for task failed for an exception System.Exception: Exceeded maximum number of retries. No report will be generated" error message.
Hi,
I would to suggest you to open a support ticket because via community it is not easy to do a deeper investigation.
Include:
- QlikView or Qlik Sense version
- Qlik NPrinting version
- the logs
- screenshots
- if possible the qvf or qvw with some data
- the template
- everything could be useful to reproduce the bug here
Best Regards,
Ruggero

I have had a case open with Qlik for awhile now but it isn't going all that well, so the short answer is no, there hasn't been a resolution yet. Like Ruggero suggests, the only real way to get traction on a case is to have the Qlik folks replicate the environment (if that is even feasible) and qvf/qvw as closely as possible. In my case, our environment is unique and complex and replicating it doesn't seem feasible for support (in my opinion/experience), and to send my qvw will require some work on my end as I have to scrub the data for legal reasons. I will add that our QlikView server randomly goes down which what appears to be due to resource issues and my gut tells me that whatever is wrong on that server is also causing my NP issues, but we have not been able to find nor correct our server issue thus far. And we think it started happening after upgrading Windows on our server environment. One of the things we did try to see if it would help the server is to reinstall QlikView, and coincidentally enough, my NP job has more successful results than it did before, but every now and then it still fails with the "Exceeded maximum number of retries". Sorry I can't be more help at this time.
Good morning to everyone,
Am I facing the same problem, has anyone had any feedback on this?
Hi,
Please open a support case with the details I mentioned in one of my previous post.

Kris,
I ran into a similar problem. A task to create a PDF from a Pixel Perfect report using levels was failing with almost the same error:
I believe that one of the charts I was using as a level had some issues - I think due to duplicate field names in this case. I was hiding one of the fields in the QV app but NP imported both. I was able to isolate the issue by removing levels and testing/previewing the report until it worked.
Now I get a different error saying the NP failed to open the document when I run a large batch of reports. But I was able to fix part of the problem.
Arnie
Thanks for sharing this info.
FYI, I actually closed my case with Qlik but did not have a resolution prior to doing so. Sorry to all that I am not able to provide more helpful info.
Colleagues, hello.
I had this problem, due to the fact that the startup file Nprinting, renamed with the extension .oldfile, and the current began to weigh 0 mb
Hi,
The problem is not clear to me. Please open a new community conversation or a support ticket with all details.
Thanks.
